History The leaded-glass ceiling of the Tropicana casino before the 2011 renovation.
The team and Bally's officially announced the project on May 15, 2023. The project is expected to cost $1.5 billion. On May 9, 2023, it was announced that Major League Baseball (MLB)'s Oakland Athletics had reached an agreement to build a 33,000-seat partially retractable roof stadium on the Tropicana site with plans to demolish it along with a new 1,500-room hotel and casino. Instead, the Tropicana is linked by overhead pedestrian bridges to its neighboring casinos: to the north across Tropicana Avenue, the MGM Grand, and to the west across the Strip, the Excalibur. Pedestrians are not allowed to cross at street level. This location, the Tropicana – Las Vegas Boulevard intersection, has the most hotel rooms of any intersection in the world. It is owned and operated by Bally's Corporation, on land leased from Gaming and Leisure Properties. The Tropicana Las Vegas is a casino hotel on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.
